After just three games on Day 6 of the 2022 League of Legends World Championship Group Stage, Group B has found its winners. LPL champions JD Gaming and LCK third seed DWG KIA advance to the top eight of the tournament. LEC second seed G2 Esports and LCS third seed Evil Geniuses have been eliminated from Worlds.

JDG and DAMWON had great positions heading into the day. The LPL squad had won all their games so far and DWG KIA had beaten G2 and EG. They were helped even more at the start of the day. Evil Geniuses came out swinging against G2 Esports. Bot laner Hasan “Kaori” Şentürk and support Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme ran circles around their G2 counterparts. EG wiped the floor with G2 and got their first victory of the Group Stage.

EG then faced JD Gaming, hoping to thrive on the momentum of their victory. They threw a curveball at JDG in the draft phase, with jungler Kacper “Inspired” Słoma locking in Fiddlesticks. It was a one-sided affair. EG was on the receiving end of a Lucian/Nami bot lane this time around, and the other side of the map was no joy either. Bai “369” Jiahao played Fiora expertly. JDG quickly took control of the game and never let go of it. At 20 minutes, they had acquired a 9k gold lead already and cruised towards a victory.

DWG KIA eliminates two teams in one strike

Everything came down to the game between DWG KIA and G2 Esports. A win for DAMWON would lock them in the top eight alongside JDG, while a G2 win would keep both G2 and EG in the race.

G2 pivoted with their strategy to play more around jungler Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski, who piloted the Bel’Veth. Though G2 did a good job at keeping their opponents at bay in the first minutes, things quickly spun out of control for the Europeans. Top laner Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon won an unfavorable matchup with his Sejuani and outplayed Sergen “BrokenBlade” Çelik’s Fiora. This gave the LCK team access to both the drake and Rift Herald, putting them in the lead. DWG KIA took the lead and ran with it, snowballing it to immense proportions. G2 tried to find a few picks, but they were shut down instantly, and DWG KIA closed out a dominant game.

JD Gaming and DWG KIA are the third and fourth teams to qualify for the Worlds 2022 Knockout Stage. Yesterday, LCK second seed T1 and reigning world champion EDward Gaming secured their top-eight finishes by sweeping through Group A. The remaining four Knockout Stage spots will be split between Group C and Group D, who play their games on Oct. 15 and Oct. 16 respectively. You can find the full schedule here.
